Lucy and I often talk through ideasĀ – we explore shared themes and philosophies
Her poetry is best experienced when she performs it and we have looked at various ways to make visual her poems – the voice is key
I wanted to use her poetry as a sound within the pipes and also have sourced some old vintage phones which will enable you to hear the sound
There were various poems that we explored and the one that resonated with me was the one we recorded with the view to use as a piece – ‘Predator’
Lucy, on reflection, thought that there was something that wasn’t quite fitting with the poem and so wrote a poem with my work and installation in mind!! – ‘No place like home’
we recorded multiple versions – from sitting to standing to performing and have managed (with help) to get the landline to play the audio! I love the idea of the world of the old phone, the clunky dial and form and the familiar grip and hold at the ear
