NEED TO ADD FILM
- i was feeling very unconfident and amateur about the work that I had done leading up to this tutorial – I felt I had failed in some way to achieve the work I wanted.
- I made a conscious effort to try to use the tutorial for group feedback to help get on track and asked how I should present the film?
- I asked group if the video would need sound and heavy editing but mostly people agreed that it shouldn’t have sound.
- The other idea I discussed with the group was whether the video should be projected into something, onto something or onto an old box monitor.
- There was discussions about projecting onto or through the charcoal drawings of the woods – this is something I will explore later but for now it isn’t suitable for this film – perhaps will be for other films.
- With the Poly space in mind and the red carpet I thought perhaps of using an old piece of furniture like a cabinet or something similar
- I tried the monitor that day and even though it took the whole afternoon to work out how to transfer the media – once I had, I immediately didn’t find the aesthetic right
- I went on to try all options and I didn’t feel that they represented the video or portrayed the feel I was intending. I have decided to use one of the boxes I already have and to customise it to display the film at eye level but in a contained yet domestic setting.
- By projecting I am adding another layer to the layers that already reside in the film.
- Feedback of the group watching the film was that of unease, confusion, distortion, not being quite sure of what it is I am seeing yet also being very peaceful and lovely
