This was one of the hardest installs to do.  I knew which space to work with and wanted to try an area that was more manageable so that I could concentrate on structure of the install rather than just the line.  Although the space looks easier to work over, I found it really tricky.  The ground was very uneven and had hidden surprises that kept tripping me up!

It felt like quite a slog and I was really relieved when it was over. The structure wasn’t taking the shape that I intended.  Looking at the video I realised I had it on the wrong setting so it videoed rather than time lapsed.  I have started using IMovie to edit the videos and add sound.  The sound I have added to this is urban which is a contrast to the setting I was in.  I would like to explore the play of the opposite in these works.  It made me think of an upside down world or of a world underneath our normalness.  I like the idea of the timelessness of the imagery against the modernity of the sound.

I have been thinking about why I go to the woods – whether it is to think, contemplate, meditate or escape.  Whatever the reasons there is always a voice of home – of the ordinary, the mundane, the painful and memories.

I have been thinking of ways in which we are numb to so many atrocities that surround us in our everyday lives – I would like to incorporate current news from the radio to play under the imagery of the installs.
