have been in workshop making molds and wax casts of dolls arms
created a ball of arms – reminds me of a jack from a childhood game – would like to roll but is very fragile
interested in mixing up materials to use metal with the wax to make playful objects
enjoy the art of making and doing – enjoy objects – aesthetics and discovery
trying to decide on which artist to look at and am so drawn to Tony Oursler – his work is fascinating and I felt inexplicably drawn to it – I would like to research and find out more about him so he is an ideal subject for my essay
still thinking of how many of the things/objects I consider have an element of play about them
dolls – the need to reflect on childhood – that is the connection – yet knowing it makes people uncomfortable ( I enjoy that too)
the domestic – it is still part of what I do
pain and memory – perhaps how we attach feelings and memories to objects
reading Camera Lucida – intrigued how one photo can capture his mother – an accident that stores all his memory in some way of his mother
perhaps exploring how objects do the same – a smell, a saying, a song, a sound, a piece of clothing, a stance, glasses, necklace?
so personal and individual but a place to store them
