I decided to try and cast the baby pair of shoes in resin – the process was achieved in stages and unfortunately the first layer was distorted due to the age of the resin and the final layer cracked which was perhaps due to the reaction of pouring onto uncooled resin.
I was really disappointed in the mistakes and although not quite what I expected there are qualities to this that I like. I used the smashed crockery I had used in the dishwasher video within the layers with a finer layer on the top – similar to the distortion of memory or what we do with grief (see Stoner extract).
Made me think that there may be a faint chance that the crockery came from the same family that the shoes cam from – what story comes wth these items – a history or story that we don’t know but we can make up
