Watched this really interesting piece about fear.  It had a haunting commentary throughout discussing fear, what makes us feel fear, why we seek it out, how we do it etc , through the use of various clips of horror films from across time and culture.

Fascinating realisation that we create the supernatural as a way to deal with the fact that reality is much more fearful than the unknown or the supernatural.

The feelings of anxiety, of how it builds, how it paralyses us or makes us create other illusions, noises and happenings runs throughout.

This made me realise the links between some of the pieces that I have made or am working towards.  Although the grater pieces, the legs, the doll and feather video, the memory pieces are quite different there is a tenuous link of the uncomfortable, the funny but black feeling that they evoke.

I wonder if it is my anxiety or that of the viewer that interests me.  And whether I explore this through recreation of it or a comment on it.
