Fold A1 into 8 with certain directives given – firstly writing free flow followed by doing the same but with drawing which I found much harder – felt quite self conscious to begin with but really enjoyed.  We were then given time to create a book using a variety of techniques that we had used.

I found this such a useful exercise, having used text in my work before but in quite a different way – probably a little contrived.  This way of writing, as long as I knew it could be concealed, was appealing.

I spent the next couple of days working on a larger scale – music plugged in (with no words) and wrote and wrote – I remembered doing this once before on a painting about my mum – after I had finished I collapsed in a heap.  I experimented with charcoal, paint, smudging and overwriting to conceal the narrative
