I made this video in response to reading a short story which has some reference to Hitchcock’s The Birds. The story is called Our Feathered Friends – a story of two lovers who, off out for a sunny drive, rest in a wood. The sound of the birds around them become quite suffocating and the once, “cute looking birds” become menacing. The birds circle the couple and eventually all that is left are two feathered mounds.
I am not too sure yet about the video and perhaps think it is too long. I struggled so much trying to edit this in Adobe Premier and after wasting all day I gave up and used movie maker. I know that there will be more I can do by using Premier but these are just ideas – I’m not after a sleek finish.
Reflecting on the video I can see references to death – the breathing and smothering. For me it has contrasting elements of fragility and destruction which are similar elements to those that were seen in my hands and hair piece. I need to get some feedback about the work.
